Lionel Messi has made it clear that neither he nor his Barcelona squad will give up the race for La Liga.

Barcelona currently sit five points behind Real Madrid at the summit of the league table, but Messi was in high spirits after his mesmerising performance against Malaga on Sunday. Messi scored a wonderful hat-trick and was eulogised even more in the world media.

Messi, speaking to AS after the match, stated, "There is a lot [of time] left [before the end of the league] - the second round of matches - and we will keep pushing."

Leo was in no doubt that the side will be ready for the return match against Real Madrid, "We got tired today, but we get tired after every match because they are demanding. We are used to playing every three days. We will prepare for this match well."
